STEPPING INTO INDEPENDENCE

Having dinner with a team at a restaurant across is the street from the hotel is always fun, especially when Graciela is the hostess. She’s professional, cordial, always with a smile on her face . . . and a “graduate” of La Casa.

Graciela was a year and half when she came to live with us at La Casa. She has always been fun loving and oh so creative, even making her own paper clothes when she was small. As she got older, she took an interest in cooking and decided to study culinary arts when she graduated from high school. Graciela is confident and determined. She sets goals and works to achieve them.

Graciela graduated from culinary arts school and has worked in a couple of different restaurants, saving to step out into independence. And just last month, Graciela moved into an apartment with another lady. It is within walking distance to her job and other essential places she will need to live on her own.

But don’t worry, you can find Graciela visiting back at The Bridge on many of her days off, which we are thankful for. We want every young adult to be able to be proud of their independence, yet be able to feel free to visit and continue to feel the support and love of La Casa. Well done, Graciela. We are SO proud of  you!
