SIDE BY SIDE IN THE HEAT AND JOY
We had the privilege of partnering with a GlobalX team from Atlanta, Georgia to serve alongside our Equestrian Program. They came with the heart to participate in and support the horse program.
The children receive classes weekly. Some of the benefits provided by this program include: teaching responsibility, building confidence, learning to trust, learning how to recognize and control emotions, and reinforcing language and educational skills.
Last year, the equine team began work on lining the horses’ stalls with wood to absorb the impact of when the horses kick the concrete stalls, preventing damage to their hoofs. This year, the team was able to continue and complete the project, covering three walls in each of the stalls with wood. They came prepared to write a Bible verse on the back of each piece of wood. Their intention was that God’s Word would always be present. They cut, stained, wrote a Bible verse on each piece of wood and nailed the wood planks to the stall’s walls. Although there were some grueling, very hot days, with highs well into the nineties and extremely high humidity, the team never gave up.
But perhaps, some of their favorite times were times spent with the children as they had lessons during the week and after lunch each day before the children returned to classes. Playing soccer, ping pong, frisbees, coloring together, working puzzles, making bracelets and doing crafts created much time for interaction and connection. Helping with the lesson for the littlest ones showed them how the program pours into the children.
We are thankful for each heart that came, sweated and served us so well! Enjoy some pictures from their week.
