HEARTS TO SERVE: TWO TEAMS, ONE MISSION

We have had the privilege of partnering with two GlobalX Youth Teams from Atlanta, GA these past two weeks. One group came from Buckhead Church and the other from Brown’s Bridge Church. They came with hearts to serve God in whatever way presented to them, and they did just that!

Our project for the summer teams has been helping to dig ditches for which paving bricks will be laid to make a road up the hill where are stables are located. Picks, shovels, wheelbarrows and lots of hard work decked out the paths up that hill. Both teams had such a positive attitude and were able to make significant progress on the project.

But a mission’s trip isn’t just about a “project.” Connecting with the children we serve, visiting some of our neighbors in the community and learning about Salvadoran culture are also priorities for our teams. Our hope is that they have seen God work in ways they may not have seen Him before and leave an imprint on their hearts as they return home. Hearing stories of how God has had His handprints all over the ministry along with their own group times of reflection and devotions help youth to process all that they are experiencing in just a short week’s worth of time.

During one of the debrief times after returning from time in the community, one of the students said, “There is a difference between a house and a home. You can have all you need and more and still not have a home. These people have homes.”  God was certainly working on hearts!

We are so grateful for the ways these two teams have served alongside us! Let’s be praying for the ways they are able to share about their experiences with others.
