CELEBRATING YOUNG ADULTHOOD
Two beautiful girls, wearing special dresses, made their way into the decorated pavillion area, each escorted by their housedads. It was a special day. Each year, we celebrate and honor those who have had fifteenth birthdays during the year in La Casa. This year, it was Margarita and Katherine’s turn to be recognized. This special day is known as a Quinceaños and is considered to be a passage into young adulthood.
Our tradition has been singing together, listening to words of wisdom and encouragement, giving each girl a Bible chosen just for them and sharing a special meal together.
Besides the privilege of getting to choose a special dress for the day, Margarita and Katherine also chose special ways to remember biological family who could not be present. Margarita chose to carry a white rose, and Katherine chose to make a special bracelet with pearls to wear.
Our honored speaker this year was Tono, our housedad from the Hope Home. He used Proverbs 31:30 to encourage the girls to keep God’s Word in their hearts, as a true treasure. “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” He reminded the girls that life will bring both good and hard times, but staying close to God will make their life rewarding. These are good reminders for all of us – those just beginning their journey into adulthood and for us who are well into the adult journey.
Join us in praying for Margarita and Katherine as they meditate on these words of wisdom and encouragement. May they continuously weave God’s Word into their lives and cling to Him always.
We hope you enjoy some pictures from this special day.
