LEARNING TO BE AGENTS OF CHANGE

Not too far from the backside of our property sits a small school. Two classrooms are where twenty students, in grades first through eighth, are taught each day. The principal and one teacher facilitate the classes. Not a lot of attention seems to be given to the school, although the two adults seem more than dedicated to teaching the children. The mother’s of the children who attend help clean and prepare a snack each day for the students.

As part of graduating from high school, our students must serve 150 social hours. Our teachers decided that it would be a good idea to invest in that tiny school. Last month, our high school students visited the school and sat down with the principal to listen to the needs. One of the ideas that our students proposed was making some materials for the teachers to use with the students. This past week, our students returned with what they had made. The teachers were delighted to have some new materials to use and righten up the classrooms.

Our students will continue to make monthly visits to the school and learn of other opportunities to help. Just as our students are poured into, we desire that they learn to pour into others. We hope you enjoy taking a peek at the projects our students donated to the school.
