THE POWER OF SERVING AS A FAMILY
Many parents intentionally plan moments to connect with their children. They might go out for dinner together, engage in a shared hobby, or even plan a weekend getaway. While these activities are valuable, have you ever considered a week-long mission trip as an alternative? This is precisely what a group of parents and adolescents from Atlanta, Georgia, did. They traveled together to serve and connect during the week. Simply engaging in a meaningful activity together proved to be a profound blessing for both the parents and their children.
Before anyone put on the work gloves they had intentionally packed to help continue the road we have been laying this summer, we always want our teams to understand the mission God has called us to. Hearing God’s stories of provisions, witnessing the unfolding family-based care, and stepping out of our comfort zones to intentionally spend time with our neighbors are prioritized over just diving into the project. These moments create many opportunities for conversation and relationship building between adolescent and parent.
This group also played so hard with the children after lunch each day. None of our children wanted to head back into afternoon classes, but we are in the middle of our school year, so they had to.
Thank you, GlobalX Family Team, for coming, learning, and serving together. You all modeled family so well for us all!
