Volunteering with our Therapeutic Riding Program

We just said, “See you later,” to Suzette. She spent five weeks with us volunteering in the equestrian therapeutic program. We met her when she was 13 years old and came on a mission’s trip with her father. Their team partnered alongside our riding program for the week. Suzette already had a passion for horses, as her life is riding and participating on horse show competitions, so taking a liking to the horses was no surprise. However, the show world is very different from therapeutic riding, but her heart was drawn to the program.

Fast forward three years, and she just completed a little more than a month long volunteering experience with our riding program. She was no stranger to mucking stalls or riding, but she adapted quickly to teaching the children how to ride and learning the therapeutic emphasis and benefits that the program had for the children. On several occasions, she was able to teach the classes all on her own – in Spanish.

We appreciate Suzette’s heart for the children, the horses and La Casa. Thank you for giving up a month of your own agenda and coming alongside us to learn and serve. We hope we’ll see you again soon!
